About Mondo

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a big fan of cake.  As a child, it was my favorite thing to eat; and today, I pretty much feel the same way.  Unfortunately, I find cake-baking to be…a bit on the labor-intensive side.  When I want dessert, I want it now.

I suppose that’s why I love cookies so much.  Preheat the oven, make the dough, bake it for a little bit, and… voila, you’ve got homemade cookies in less than 30 minutes!  You don’t have to frost them, decorate them, or wait for them to cool for an hour.  You can eat them warm right out of the oven.  Now, that’s immediate gratification!

Let me explain.

It all began when my roommate, Cindi Baker (yes, that’s her real name), started baking homemade chocolate chip cookies.  When I got home from school, there would be a plate of freshly baked lovelies waiting for me.  Now, as you know, there are no homemade baked goods at college.  You have to suck it up and wait for care packages, but not at our house.  We had Cindi Baker, and she blessed us with her delicious delights.

Imagine my sheer terror when she graduated.  Um…of course, I was happy for her, but who was going to make cookies for me now?  When no one answered my question, I assumed it had to be me, but I knew nothing about baking.

After spending years reading, experimenting, and sharing my creations with friends, I now bake for fun and funds…but only because my friends kept pressing me to share my goodies with everyone.

Hey, that’s a lot of cookies, people, and ingredients aren’t cheap!
