The paddle was fine out of the box. It wasn&#039;t until I used it for a few months that it began to chip slightly, but only at the top. I should of replaced it then , but stalled, foolishly believing it was chipping during the wash. I used it until it started to chip at the bottom of the paddle, as shown in the second photo. </description>

		<description>Was that a new paddle? How long did it take to start flaking like that?  I bought a new Kitchenaid mixer a few years ago and it came out of the box with a chipped beater attachment.  I called their customer service # and they shipped me a new one ... no questions asked.</description>

		<description>As quite possibly the last kitchen appliance made in America, KitchenAid can do better.  Considering the price premium over comparable products from China, the burnished aluminum paddle attachment should be standard.</description>
